Promoting Environmental Sustainability in communities

As part of our commitment to promoting environmental sustainability and effective waste management, ECOFUTURES recently launched a Sensitization and Trash can (garbage bin) Distribution Initiative in the Bangem Municipality. This project aimed to improve hygiene, encourage responsible waste disposal, and instill environmental consciousness among students.

Identifying the Waste Management Challenge

ECOFUTURES conducted an extensive needs assessment to evaluate the waste management challenges faced by schools in Bangem. Findings revealed that most schools lacked adequate waste disposal facilities, leading to littering and unsanitary conditions. Addressing this urgent need, ECOFUTURES partnered with the administrators of the most affected schools and provided trashcans and waste management edication as an immediate intervention.

Impactful Intervention

ECOFUTURES successfully distributed trashcans to four schools, ensuring their strategic placement in classrooms, school yards, and high-traffic areas. The initiative engaged school administrators, teachers, and students to promote ownership and commitment to maintaining a clean environment.

Educational Sensitization Sessions

Alongside the distribution, ECOFUTURES carried out interactive sensitization sessions in each school, educating students and staff on:

✅ How to separate and dispose of waste responsibly.
✅ The role of students in maintaining a clean school environment.
